Although the Neo Geo was an amazing game console, it has long since gone the way of the dinosaurs. However, thanks to emulation and creative coding, we can now enjoy many Neo Geo games on our modern-day computers, even with their original controllers. For example, using your PC’s keyboard and mouse controls, the emulator NEOCP plays Neo Geo games natively in Windows. Not only can you play old Neo Geo games on your PC, but you can do so with the original Neo Geo Control Panel!
The History of the Neo Geo Control Panel
The Neo Geo control panel was first introduced in 1990 to play arcade games at home. The system was designed by SNK and featured a sleek, minimalist design ahead of its time. The control panel allowed gamers to play SNK and Capcom titles, making it a must-have for any serious gamer. Despite its popularity, the Neo Geo control panel was discontinued in 2004.
The Design Process
When we set out to design a new control panel for the Neo Geo, we knew that we wanted to stay true to the original while also modernizing it for today’s gamers. We started by looking at the classic design and breaking it into individual elements. We began experimenting with different ways to update the look while maintaining that essential retro feel. After many iterations, we landed on a final design that we believe captures the best of both worlds.
The Hardware
The Neo Geo is a legendary console, and its control panel is just as iconic. But what if you want to use it with modern games? That’s where Game on Grafix comes in. We’ve created a custom control panel that allows you to play any game on your Neo Geo, whether from the 90s or today.
How it Works
Game on Grafix is excited to offer a new line of control panels for the classic Neo Geo system. Our control panels are made with modern materials and construction techniques, which means they’ll last longer and perform better than the original panels. Plus, we’ve added some new features that gamers will love, like LED backlighting and custom artwork options.
